   Many different community groups (sports / arts etc.) are tax exempt as non-profit. Church is no different..

   Well, hundreds of people like record executives do that every day. It's naive to think that someone undercutting a hugely popular artist and making a small profit is going to hurt the artist. An artist really makes money off concerts, T-shirt sales, etc. They don't see most of the cd sales. The principal is probably what you are getting at.

   If this group is making money and it bothers you then why don't you confront them? Fans are often the first line of defense a musician has against copyright infringement. Remaining anonymous and reporting it may have little effect and the matter might not be looked into swiftly, plus it makes someone looked as they are too scared to really do anything.

   By asking the group to stop you are putting them on notice that someone knows what they are up to. Plus it gives them a chance to stop before they are slapped with a huge lawsuit and their lives are ruined. I'm sure you wouldn't want that if you are a nice person. Ask them to stop. So, the answer to your question is quite simple: you notify the group about what they are doing. That will get the fastest and probably best reaction. If they don't stop, then you take further action. Don't just react and punish them with the harshest penalties, give them a chance.

   i've got one and one of my microchips has songs like *alabaster box* by cece winans, *glory to glory* by fred hammond, *in the midst of it all* by yolanda adams, etc.
